Newcastle are apparently close to making Lewis Hall a permanent signing, despite the English defender’s struggles in the first team.
The 19-year-old joined the Magpies on loan from Chelsea at the beginning of the season, having impressed in nine Premier League games the previous season.
Hall is regarded as one of the brightest young possibilities in English football, and his versatility is an essential asset, particularly for Eddie Howe’s side.
His loan agreement included a buy option, with the Blues valuing the player at £30 million, and according to Fabrizio Romano, a deal is only a’matter of time’ away from being consummated.

Howe clearly prizes versatility in his full-backs, as Kieran Trippier, Tino Livramento, Dan Burn, and now Hall can all play on both sides.
With Chelsea reported to be constrained by Financial Fair Play laws, the sale of Hall might allow them to pursue one of their top targets in the summer.
