Gosder Cherilus
On a Delta flight headed for Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday night, a former NFL player, Gosder Cherilus was taken into custody for allegedly causing a disturbance, which included peeing on a fellow passenger.
Following the airplane’s reroute back to Logan Airport, Gosder Cherilus was taken into custody and handcuffed for causing disturbance to flight crew and engaging in disorderly conduct, as reported by Boston 25 News.
Delta flight 154 from Boston to Dublin on August 17 returned to Boston Logan due to an unruly customer and was met by law enforcement,” a spokesperson for Delta told the outlet. “Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement to that end. Cherilus, the 2008 NFL Draft first-round selection, is scheduled to be arraigned in East Boston District Court on Monday. According to a source who spoke to Boston 25 News, Cherilus allegedly peed on another passenger.
The affected passengers were rescheduled for a new flight that left Sunday night and will arrive in Dublin on Monday.
Cherilus was drafted by the Lions in 2008 with the 17th overall pick, and he played as a lineman for nine seasons.
During his career, he played for the Colts and the Buccaneers for two seasons before spending a total of five with the Lions.
Before retiring in 2016, Cherilus played in 132 games, starting 116 of them. The 40-year-old, a native of Massachusetts, played football for Sommerville High School, where he was named a senior All-Scholastic by the Boston Globe and Boston Herald.
On October 27, 2023, he was admitted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame after playing college football for the full duration at Boston College.
