He was a student, a friend, an athlete and, most important, a Christ follower,” Oliver said.

“Our feelings as a school community and family are beyond words. Together, we will provide Jamie, Arsella, and Lyla our utmost support. We also convey our sincere condolences to the Telliers’ extended family.”

AISAA Statement on Caden Tellier’s Condition Causes Confusion

A message from Alabama Independent School Association Executive Director Michael McLendon was put on the association’s Facebook page earlier on Saturday, causing confusion on social media over Tellier’s condition. The school had suffered a “tragic loss” in relation to Tellier, according to the first statement, which was posted before noon ET.

But later that day, he passed away. The school is “suspending” all of its operations for the upcoming week, according to McLendon.

“The close-knit community of Morgan Academy is feeling the weight of this tragedy even more profoundly due to its small size. In this difficult time, the Alabama Independent School Association stands ready to provide unwavering support and resources to help the school navigate its grief.”

Caden Tellier excelled in his debut season. He passed for 1,228 yards and 7 touchdowns in football. In baseball, he hit .311 with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs.
