Arandric Kornell Ran Carthon, Tennessee Titan General manager fired after going 3-14 this season and securing the first selection in the 2025 draft. He was fired on Tuesday, 7th January 2024 as reported by Sportview2.

Amy Adams Strunk, majority owner of the Titans, stated in a statement issued by the team.

It’s impossible to ignore that our football team hasn’t improved over the past two years, I am deeply disappointed in our poor win-loss record during this period.

The Titans announced that Chad Brinker, president of football operations, will head the team’s search for a new general manager, while Brian Callahan will stand in as head coach for the mean time.

According to the team’s website, Brinker said.

I think the general manager position is unique to their respective organizations, This particular job, what we’ll be looking for is someone who has spent their career as a scout, is a top-flight, top-level evaluator who has spent the majority of their career projecting college players to the National Football League, they’ve had a major hand in setting the draft board in preferably a consistent, winning organization, and you can see their fingerprints all over the roster.

Burke Nihill, the team’s president and CEO, stated on the team’s website that Brinker will have “final authority” over the roster, but the new general manager will be in charge of daily roster choices.

It is important to Amy to have absolute clarity in the football organization.” Nihill told the team’s website. “And so, while the general manager position will have a primary responsibility on all these things Chad is describing in terms of the day-to-day of overseeing the roster and the coaching staff, Chad is the leader of the football program, so Chad will be the final authority on all football matters, including the roster.

The Titans want a general manager that works closely with the current head coach, and Nihill pointed out that Carthon was hired when they had a different standard for the position.

“Wow!” is how Colorado coach Deion Sanders responded to the Titans’ news on X. Sanders’ son, Shedeur Sanders, is probably going to be considered when the Titans choose first overall in April.

After the Titans ousted former general manager Jon Robinson in the middle of the 2023 season, Carthon was brought on board. Tennessee was eliminated from the playoffs after losing seven straight games.

After being named general manager last year, Carthon was elevated to executive vice president. Brinker was hired in February 2023 after 13 seasons with Green Bay, and the Titans advanced him to president of football operations, a new role for Tennessee.

In Carthon’s debut season, the Titans finished 6-11. Carthon was given the authority to head their search for the next coach, who turned out to be Callahan, after Strunk fired former coach Mike Vrabel.

The squad had its lowest season since 2015, when it ended 3-13, during Callahan’s debut season (3-14). Tennessee has a 9–25 record over the last two years.
