Defender Julian Araujo left Barcelona to sign for Premier League team Bournemouth for a reported €10 million.
After spending the previous season on loan, Araujo had been expecting for an opportunity to play for Hansi Flick’s first team. However, he is now leaving for a fresh challenge in England. The agreement has neither a buy-back nor a sell-on clause. The club’s official statement is as follows:
FC Barcelona and AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement for the transfer of Julián Araujo to the English club for 10 million euros.
FC Barcelona publicly expresses its gratitude to Araujo for his dedication and commitment and wishes him every success in the future.
The Ex Barca player have signed Araujo to a five-year contract with the Cherries; according to CEO Neill Blake, they have been “tracking Julian Araujo for a while now.”
In the last few weeks of the transfer window, Barca’s financial reserves are bolstered by the sale. Given that Vitor Roque and Clement Lenglet are both expected to depart, more sales are probably in store.
