Manchester united signs Sekou Kone
Manchester United and Guidars FC of Mali have reached an agreement for the 18-year-old Sekou Kone. Although manager Erik ten Hag has sought to bolster the defensive midfielder position, United intends to ease Kone into the English premier league with the under-21s while he gets acclimated to the country.
Sekou Kone is who?
Mali’s 18-year-old midfielder Sekou Kone. Kone was born in Mali on February 3, 2006. In his early career, he has mostly played defensive midfield. The young player has played for both the Mali youth team and Guidars FC.
Leny Yoro from Lille, Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich are the players that United has signed so far this summer. In their first Premier League match last Friday, Ten Hag’s team defeated Fulham 1-0. This Saturday, they will play Brighton & Hove Albion.
What is Man United spending on Sekou Kone?
Between €1.5 million and €2 million is the projected transfer fee for Kone. United become interested in him due to his outstanding performance at the Under-17 World Cup in 2023, where he showed a knack for combining strong tackling with the creation of goal-scoring opportunities.
Manchester United views Kone as a long-term asset with tremendous potential, despite his relative inexperience. In an effort to strengthen its younger ranks, United plans to add him to the roster of bright young players in its academy.
